by Junji Akechi, Staff Writer

Two high school students, participants from Hiroshima in the 2010 APEC Junior Conference, visited Hiroshima City Hall to share the fruitful outcome of the gathering with Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba on March 29. The conference was held in Hiroshima in February with the participation of 37 youths from member nations and regions of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Risa Kushioka, 18, a third-year student at Hiroshima Jogakuin Senior High School, and Richi Miyake, 16, a first-year student at Shudo High School, offered a copy of the conference report, and told the mayor that their perspectives were broadened through discussions in English with young people from 19 countries and regions.

Mayor Akiba wished them well, saying, "I hope you will build a bright future, making good use of the experience and the new friendships you have made."
