Yasuda Women’s University invited the president of its U.S. sister school to speak on July 2. Tomas D. Morales, President of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) delivered a speech on the development of human resources with a global view to about 100 faculty members of the university, which is located in Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima.

In his speech, Mr. Morales stressed the importance of training students so they will have knowledge of foreign countries and cultures in this era of rapid globalization and international business. He said that more students around the world have been participating in programs to study in a foreign country for an extended period of time in order to deepen cross-cultural understanding and learn about international markets.

Yasuda and CSUSB became sister universities in July 1990. In the last academic year, Yasuda began sending all the second-year students from its English department to CSUSB to study there for six months.
