On February 15, musicians from overseas who will perform in a concert by the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra visited the Peace Memorial Park in Naka Ward. The musicians renewed their desire for a peaceful world by playing an A-bombed piano and exchanging views with local citizens.

Four musicians, including Charles Richard-Hamelin, 27, a pianist from Canada, and others laid a wreath of flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims. Ali Yazdanfar, 42, the principal bass player for the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, said that he would like to convey the thoughts and feelings he has experienced in Hiroshima when he performs.

Mr. Hamelin played a piano, which endured the atomic bombing, at the Peace Memorial Museum. The musicians also interacted with local high school students and pianists.

The visit is linked to “Music for Peace,” a concert by the orchestra where a message of peace is shared with the world with guest musicians from abroad. The concert will take place at Bunka Gakuen HBG hall in Naka Ward from 6:45 p.m. on February 16.
