Hiroshima intended to hold the bombing exhibition in the United States, looking for a place for exhibition in a nuclear power country.

Since Lehman College, The City University of New York opened a new campus in Chiyoda-Cho, Yamagata-District in Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima City asked for the possibility of holding the exhibition in New York. The joint exhibition of Hiroshima and Nagasaki came about by the efforts of the teachers.
