Mairead Maguire

Peace activist from Northern Ireland. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976. Born in 1944. Became active in the peace movement in Northern Ireland after three of her sister’s children were killed by a car driven by a member of the Irish Republican Army. Founded the organization Peace People, with Betty Williams, in 1976. Now promotes non-violence and conflict resolution worldwide, including in Palestine.
