Jody Williams

Leader of anti-landmine campaign. Awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1997. Born in 1950 in the United States. After university, became a peace activist opposed to U.S. policy in El Salvador. Served as founding coordinator of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, from 1992, leading to the Mine Ban Treaty of 1997, an international agreement that bans antipersonnel landmines.
