Kyodo News:
Pakistani ambassador to attend Hiroshima peace ceremony Jul 27, 2004

TOKYO, July 27 Kyodo - Pakistani Ambassador to Japan Kamran Niaz will attend a peace memorial ceremony in Hiroshima on Aug. 6 to mark the 59th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of the city, the municipal government said Tuesday. It will be the first time Pakistan's ambassador has attended the event in five years. The city government had asked all the seven nuclear nations -- Britain, China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia and the United States -- as well as North Korea to send government representatives to the anniversary event.

The Pakistani ambassador and Russian Ambassador to Japan Alexander Losyukov accepted the offer, but the six other counties turned down the request, according to the city government. July 27, 2004 21:14:51
