Peace News:
Dome Meets Myth Aug 6, 2006

By Masanori Wada

Prayers for peace floating up. Artist Taro Okamoto's mural Myth of Tomorrow depicting the detonation of the atomic bomb was projected full-scale on the seawall in front of the A-bomb Dome, Naka-ku, Hiroshima.

Just after 8:00 p.m., a large projector on the opposite bank projected the image onto the stone seawall. The image gradually grew larger until it reached 5.5 meters in height and 30 meters in length.

The original mural has been restored and is on display in Tokyo. Hiroshima citizens are trying to install it permanently in Hiroshima, and the citizens group Imagine Project Hiroshima planned this projection project in support of that effort.
