Messages from Well-Known Visitors to Hiroshima II
Jan. 3, 2008
Since the end of World War II, a range of well-known figures have visited Hiroshima, such as Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mother Teresa, and Jean-Paul Sartre. Many have felt moved to aspire more actively for peace after visiting Peace Memorial Museum and learning firsthand about the bombings as well as offering prayers before the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims in Peace Memorial Park.
To share the contemplations of such figures during their visits to Hiroshima, past coverage from the Chugoku Shimbun has been compiled and translated back into English.
