
A-bomb Disaster Marker at Shima Hospital
The first atomic bomb ever used in human history exploded at about 600 meters above Shima Hospital (at 132 degrees, 27 minutes, 27 seconds east latitude and 34 degrees, 23 minutes, 29 seconds north longitude, located in today’s Otemachi district in Naka Ward). The hypocenter area was exposed to heat rays of about 3,000 to 4,000 degrees as well as the bomb blast and radiation. Almost everyone in that area died instantly.
