Florence Griffith-Joyner (1959-1998)

American athlete. Won gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m relay in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. Visited Hiroshima in 1990 in her capacity as honorary coach of the women’s track team for Daiichi (now DeoDeo). Known not only for her dynamic form as a runner but also for her flamboyance, including her colorful clothing and long fingernails.
