"A Trip To Montreal" Hits the Road in Hiroshima

6 August 1998

An exhibition called "A trip to Montreal" began from August 5 at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum located in City's Naka-Ward. The purpose of holding this exhibition is to introduce the history and culture of Montreal, Canada which Hiroshima signed a sistership treaty in May. The last day of the exhibition is September 30.

Highlights of this exhibition, sponsored by Hiroshima and Montreal, are 60 picture panels which show the four seasons of the Japanese garden in the City's botanical garden, a bronze bell of the chapel and a palanquin which native Americans used when they carry their infants on their back. There are 10 objects exhibited.

Since Hiroshima City invited the Chairperson of the Montreal City Council to the Peace Memorial Ceremony, the idea of holding such exhibition came true. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony is held on August 6 every year at the Peace Memorial Park located in the City's Naka-Ward.
