Hiroshima's true wish for the elimination of nuclear weapons

August 1998

"Are you really aware what will happen to people, their family, and a city if a nuclear weapon is actually used?"

It has been 53 years since the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I think it is not "the knowledge of history" that passes on the horror of nuclear weapons but human's pure reason that pays respect to the victims of instant death and mass destruction.

Nuclear tests conducted by India and Pakistan in May 1998 was a false scenario. They conducted nuclear tests to be able to use the power of nuclear weapons as a political instrument so that they could increase their voice in the international society.

Just like any country which produces and possess nuclear weapons, India and Pakistan have raised the danger of our own extinction.

Now that the Memorial Day of Hiroshima is approaching, I urge, from Hiroshima, that all the people in the world stop and think about what nuclear weapons will do once used and what we can do to prevent another Hiroshima. Could it be global solidarity of reason which might prevent that disaster from happening?
