The Hiroshima International Cultural Foundation affiliated with the Chugoku Shimbun (the Hiroshima-based daily newspaper) and the RCC Broadcasting Company was established in 1977 as a non-profit organization. HICF is aiming to enhance awareness and responsibirity for peace among people in Hiroshima that experienced the devastation caused by the first A-bomb in human history. Also HICF has consistently contributed to Hiroshima to be an International City of Peace. As major projects, HICF has organizsed the Hiroshima Peace Grant that supports to pass on A-bomb experiences to future generations and work for peace in other ways, the International Exchange Promoting Award that supports consistant international exchange activities by citizens' groups, and others. Beforehand, HICF created Hiroshima Appeal Poster which respects peace and calls for a nuclear-weapon-free world, and also supported the Hibakusha Travel Grant for American Journalists and Asian Journalists, which can bring journalists from those countries so that they can see the consequences of the A-bombings while staying Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and will report it when they return their country.
