Ambassadors meet with Hiroshima mayor, express hopes for Hiroshima’s efforts to promote peace

On April 7, ambassadors of Georgia, Tajikistan, and Croatia met with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui at Hiroshima City Hall and appealed for further efforts by the City of Hiroshima to promote peace.
Levan Tsintsadze, the ambassador of Georgia, said that he hopes Mayors for Peace, for which Mr. Matsui serves as president, will engage in peace issues in the world, in addition to the abolition of nuclear weapons. Mr. Matsui responded by saying, “It’s important to share our desire for peace. Please call on the cities in your nations to join the organization.”
Bobozoda Jura, the ambassador of Tajikistan, shared the history of this nation, where the former Soviet Union had produced nuclear weapons.
Mira Martinec, the ambassador of Croatia, said that her visit to Hiroshima had further strengthened her desire for peace.
The three ambassadors were visiting Hiroshima from April 5 to take part in an exchange program with a Hiroshima-based citizens’ group called the Stone for Peace Association of Hiroshima, which has been offering A-bombed stones to the world’s heads of states. On their last day in Hiroshima, they toured Peace Memorial Museum in Naka Ward.
