Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya offers flowers at the Cenotaph for A-bomb Victims

On November 12, Justin Muturi, the speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, visited the Peace Memorial Park in Naka Ward, Hiroshima for the first time. Mr. Muturi toured the Peace Memorial Museum, offered flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, and gained a deeper understanding of the reality of the atomic bombing.

Guided by Yasuyoshi Komizo, the chairperson of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, Mr. Muturi went through the museum and studied the exhibits intently, including a charred lunchbox and an iron bridge girder deformed by the bomb blast. After the tour, he said that he recognized how the use of nuclear weapons could lead to the destruction of human life on a massive scale, and that he would spread Hiroshima’s message of peace to others across the world.

He also visited the A-bomb Dome.

Mr. Muturi has been in Japan since November 7 at the invitation of Tadamori Oshima, the speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.
