Hiroshima Summit, May 19-21: 50 days until the opening, Chugoku Shimbun portal page expanded

by Yoko Yamamoto, Staff Writer

With March 30 marking 50 days until the opening of The G7 (The Group of Seven Industrialized nations) to be held in Hiroshima in May, the Chugoku Shimbun has renewed its summit portal page within the Chugoku Shimbun Digital website. We added digital content that recounts the tragedy of the atomic bombing.

Hiroshima's Recovery City and its people rise from asfes

Based on the project, “Striving to fill voids in Hiroshima,” which captures the reality of devastation from the atomic bombing that has yet to be revealed, we created and released the digital content, “What happened under the mushroom cloud?” If you scroll the screen vertically, photos and explanatory texts about Hiroshima shortly after the A-bombing appear in chronological order. They are linked to a map showing the locations where the photos were taken, and you can trace the reality of the A-bombing in 1945.

At the same time, the portal page has been expanded to display more summit-related news. Additionally, A-bombing related articles, including those in English, have been made easier to access. We will also strengthen the dissemination of information related to daily life such as traffic regulations from now on.
