APEC executive director visits Hiroshima Governor

Muhamad Noor Yacob, executive director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat from Malaysia, visited Hiroshima Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki at the Hiroshima Prefectural Government Office on March 1.

Governor Yuzaki, referring to the holding of the Senior Officials' Meeting in Hiroshima in the run-up to the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Yokohama in November, said, "I am deeply grateful that the first meeting of this year's APEC conference was held in Hiroshima." Looking back on the meeting in Hiroshima, Mr. Noor said, "The success of APEC will lead to peace and prosperity in the world. Hiroshima has reminded us of the importance of peace."

On the same day, Mr. Noor also visited Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba at City Hall. He spoke of the APEC Junior Conference, which was held from February 20 to 23 in Hiroshima City, commenting, "It was a good opportunity for young people to learn about APEC and peace."
