Peace Memorial Ceremony to be broadcast live on the radio

A local radio station, "FM Chupea Club" (76.6 MHz) will broadcast the Peace Memorial Ceremony in Hiroshima live, in both English and Japanese, for the first time this year. The broadcast will start at 8:00 a.m. on August 6 and last 55 minutes. Broadcasting by "FM Chupea Club" has been available over the Internet since this spring, which marked the 10th anniversary of the station's launch. The broadcast of the ceremony in Hiroshima, which is commemorating the 65th anniversary of the atomic bombing, will also be conveyed to the world through the Internet.

The program will include Akira Tashiro, the executive director of the Chugoku Shimbun's Hiroshima Peace Media Center, providing commentary on the Peace Declaration to be delivered by Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba, among other aspects of the ceremony. Masako Utsumi will serve as the main announcer for the program, with consecutive English interpretation provided by Hiroshima Interpreters for Peace (HIP).
