Hiroshima Prefectural Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations adopts special resolution to protest against approval of right of collective self-defense

The Hiroshima Prefectural Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations, chaired by Kazushi Kaneko, held a regular general meeting on June 26 in Naka Ward, Hiroshima and adopted a special resolution which lodges a strong protest against the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The resolution denounces the administration’s rush to obtain Cabinet approval for exercising the right of collective self-defense. It states: “This move is contrary to our wish for no more A-bomb victims and for no more victims of war.”
The resolution criticizes the government, saying, “Prime Minister Abe is eroding the Constitution, which has protected the lives of the people since it was established from the painful experience of the previous war,” and demands that Mr. Abe withdraw his proposal. “This will enable Japan to wage war and will put the nation in jeopardy,” it states. At the meeting, about 50 board members adopted the resolution with a round of applause. It was then mailed to the office of the prime minister.
