Korean doctors hand Daegu mayor’s letter to Hiroshima mayor

On November 27, Park Seong Min, the president of the doctors’ association in Daegu, South Korea, together with seven other doctors, met with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui at Hiroshima City Hall and delivered a letter from Daegu Mayor Kwon Young Jin to Mr. Matsui. Daegu is a sister city of Hiroshima, and the mayor’s letter mentions his wish to sustain friendly ties between the two cities.

Dr. Park said that the Daegu mayor was very impressed by the hospitality offered to him by the citizens of Hiroshima when he visited Hiroshima this past May and that the wonderful hospitality will help strengthen mutual trust between the two cities and improve relations between South Korea and Japan. In response, Hiroshima Mayor Matsui said that he would like to increase civic exchanges and he asked the doctors to convey the spirit of Hiroshima and its wish for a world free of nuclear weapons.

The doctors’ delegation from Daegu is visiting Hiroshima to attend a meeting on the nursing insurance system. The meeting is being organized by the Hiroshima City Medical Association and will be held on November 29.
