Foreign media spread news about the Pope’s visit to Hiroshima to the world

Around one hundred members of the foreign media packed Hiroshima City to report on the Pope who made a strong appeal for the elimination of nuclear weapons from the A-bombed city.

Philippe Mesmer, 47, a correspondent for the French newspaper Le Monde, reported on the “Meeting for Peace” saying, he thought that although Pope Francis’s message will not immediately change the policies of the world’s political leaders, he believed it would become a step toward creating a peaceful world.

Francesco Casillo from the Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI), 47, said, “The goal of ending the production of all weapons, including nuclear weapons, and living in peace is shared by all religions. The message from the Pope, who is a spiritual leader, will have a great significance.”

Micahel Sainsbury, 55, a news reporter for a Catholic news agency, said, “The Pope’s visit to Hiroshima is a great opportunity to focus global attention on the issue of nuclear arms reduction. The message of the Pope, who is always thinking about the weak, is sure to reach a large number of people.”
